As the Pharaoh and Lead Designer at Black Lotus, I'm the architect of intrigue and desire in 3XO. My role is to craft the ultimate sandbox where players can unleash their creativity, explore player-created worlds, and indulge in social escapades that range from flirty banter to electrifying cybersex.
It's a position that demands a blend of innovation, precision, and a touch of naughtiness, all coming together to create an experience that's as intoxicating as it is unforgettable.
2. If you had to describe your job with a meme, which spicy one would you pick?
3. Give us an enticing glimpse into your daily life working on 3XO – what’s your routine like?
Allow me to paint you a picture. Step into the tantalizing rhythm of a day in the life of the Pharaoh of Black Lotus.
My mornings begin with the essential elixir -- coffee. With caffeine coursing through my veins, I dive into a team meeting where ideas fly and creative sparks ignite. These brainstorming sessions set the stage for the adventures ahead, ensuring our vision for 3XO stays fresh and thrilling.
Mornings also involve gathering feedback and managing the community. I spend this time meticulously gathering feedback and suggestions, answering burning questions from our vibrant player base, and handling the myriad administrative tasks that keep the wheels turning smoothly. It's a dynamic dance of communication and organization, ensuring that every player feels heard and every detail is perfect.
Afternoons and evenings are all about coding and development. This is when I dive deep into the technical aspects, bringing our imaginative ideas to life. The hours fly by as I tweak, refine, and perfect the game’s mechanics and features. There's nothing like the satisfaction of seeing a new feature work perfectly after hours of meticulous coding.
Nighttime brings a unique quiet, perfect for deep focus. I continue coding, driven by the glow of the screen and the hum of innovation. As the day winds down, I indulge in a well-deserved cocktail and some TV, letting my mind relax and recharge, ready to dive back into the creative chaos the next day. It's a routine filled with passion, creativity, and a touch of indulgence, making every moment worth it.
4. What’s the most delightful part about working at Black Lotus?
The absolute best part about working at Black Lotus? Working from home, hands down. Imagine rolling out of bed and right into a world of creativity, all without ever leaving the comfort of your own sanctuary. No commuting, no office distractions -- just pure, uninterrupted focus on crafting the extraordinary.
Working from home means my workspace is as flexible and dynamic as I am. I can set the perfect ambiance, whether that’s with mood lighting or my favorite music in the background. It’s all about creating a space where inspiration flows freely.
And let’s not forget the perks -- like being able to take a break and play with my pets, grab a snack from my own kitchen, or even squeeze in a quick workout (or just more snacks...). It’s a perfect blend of productivity and comfort, allowing me to pour my heart and soul into 3XO, while also maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Plus, there's something undeniably delightful about coding in your pajamas with a fresh cup of coffee always within arm's reach.
Working from home is the secret ingredient that makes every day at Black Lotus a joy.
5. What’s one thing you could do without while working here?
If there's one thing I could definitely do without while working at Black Lotus, it's the various delays that are completely out of my control. I'm talking about those random, frustrating events that have nothing to do with game development itself -- like my computer deciding to crash and die at the worst possible moment, or the terrible news of Cryptic Moon getting cancer, or even something as mundane yet disruptive as my A/C breaking down in the middle of a Florida summer.
These interruptions are the wild cards of life, completely unpredictable and utterly inconvenient. They throw off my groove, derail my plans, and add a layer of stress that no amount of planning can prevent. While we always find a way to move forward, I could definitely do without these unexpected hurdles. In an ideal world, our focus would remain undivided on creating the most immersive and engaging experience for our players, without these external chaos factors popping up.
6. What captivating feature or system are you currently working on?
Right now, I'm deeply engrossed in polishing Alpha 1 to get it ready for its big debut later this summer. This involves a meticulous process of refining gameplay mechanics, squashing bugs, and ensuring that every detail meets our high standards. It's all about making sure that when players step into the cyberverse of 3XO, they have a seamless and immersive experience right from the start.
In addition to that, I'm working on special events, contests, and mini-games specifically designed for Alpha 1. These features are meant to make the experience more entertaining and engaging, providing players with fun ways to interact and enjoy the game. Whether it's a themed event that brings the community together, a contest that sparks friendly competition, or a quirky mini-game that adds an extra layer of gameplay and entertainment, these additions are all about enriching the social experience.
It's incredibly rewarding to see everything come together and know that we're on the cusp of delivering something truly special to our players. Stay tuned, because Alpha 1 is going to be an unforgettable experience!
7. What’s been the most satisfying part of your journey with Black Lotus so far?
The most satisfying part of my journey with Black Lotus has undoubtedly been seeing our vision for the cyberverse of 3XO come to life and watching the community's enthusiastic response. There's a unique thrill in transforming an idea into a fully functional, immersive world where players can socialize, flirt, and create their own experiences. Each milestone we achieve - whether it's overcoming a challenging technical hurdle or receiving positive feedback from our growing community - reinforces the passion and hard work we pour into this project.
Another incredibly rewarding aspect has been the joy of knowing we're creating a space where people can connect, share experiences, and even form lasting relationships. It's not just about the game itself, but about the connections and memories being made within our virtual cyberspace. Seeing players enjoy what we've created and hearing their stories will make all the long hours and hard work worth it.
8. Can you share a sultry moment or unforgettable experience from your time working on 3XO?
One of the most unforgettable experiences while working on 3XO has to be the late-night brainstorming sessions that turn into something truly magical. Picture this: it’s past midnight, the office is bathed in the soft glow of computer screens, and the energy is electric. We’re all huddled together, bouncing off wild ideas, pushing the boundaries of creativity, and occasionally breaking into laughter over the most absurd concepts.
There was this one night when we were working on a particularly challenging feature. The clock struck 3 AM, and instead of feeling drained, the team was buzzing with excitement. We decided to take a break and spontaneously transformed the office into a mini party zone. Music blared, snacks were devoured, and for a brief moment, we danced like no one was watching. It was in that spirited atmosphere that we stumbled upon a breakthrough solution, one that would shape a core element of 3XO’s cyberverse.
These intimate, high-energy moments remind me why I love what I do. It’s the blend of hard work, camaraderie, and those unexpected bursts of joy that make the journey of developing 3XO so incredibly special. It’s not just about the end product, but the unforgettable experiences and the vibrant team spirit that bring our vision to life.
9. What is the most priceless lesson you’ve learned while working at Black Lotus?
The most priceless lesson I've learned while working at Black Lotus is to never announce any dates until it's 100% ready to go. I learned this the hard way after missing some crucial deadlines in the past. Those experiences were tough and taught me that in game development, unforeseen issues can arise at any moment, whether it's a last-minute bug, an unexpected technical hurdle, or a feature that takes longer to perfect than anticipated.
Announcing dates prematurely sets up expectations that can lead to frustration if we can't meet them. By waiting until everything is polished and ready, we ensure that we deliver the best possible experience to our players without the added pressure of a looming deadline. This lesson has been instrumental in keeping our development process smooth, our team focused, and our community happy. It’s a hard-earned piece of wisdom that reminds us to prioritize quality and flexibility over rigid timelines.
10. Where do you conjure up your inspiration from?
My inspiration for 3XO comes from the dozens and dozens of MMOs I've played over the years. I've spent countless hours exploring virtual worlds, socializing with players, and diving into the mechanics of these games. Through these experiences, I've developed a keen sense of what works brilliantly and what falls flat.
From the intricate social systems of games like Second Life to the immersive environments of World of Warcraft, I've seen firsthand the elements that captivate players and keep them coming back for more. On the flip side, I've also encountered many features and design choices that miss the mark. These insights have been invaluable in shaping the direction of 3XO.
By drawing on the best aspects of these games and learning from their mistakes, we've been able to create a game that truly stands out. It's a blend of tried-and-true mechanics and innovative ideas, all aimed at providing an unforgettable experience. This deep well of experience has been my guiding star, helping me craft a game that is both familiar and refreshingly unique.
11. If 3XO could team up with anyone, who would be your dream collaborator?
If 3XO could team up with anyone, my dream collaborator would be Kyle Cooke from the reality TV show, Summer House. This guy knows how to throw an epic party like no one else. His "work hard, play harder" ethos would fit perfectly with the vibrant, social environment of 3XO. I'd love to have him plan an in-game party in 3XO. Imagine the wild, high-energy events he could bring to our cyberverse - it would be an absolute blast. #SendIt
12. How crucial are gaming communities and fan feedback in shaping 3XO?
Gaming communities and fan feedback are absolutely vital in shaping 3XO. They’re the heartbeat of our development process, providing us with invaluable insights and real-world perspectives that help us fine-tune every aspect of the game. From gameplay mechanics to social features, every piece of feedback we receive helps us create a more engaging and immersive experience.
Our community’s input allows us to identify what resonates with players and what needs improvement. It’s a collaborative effort - a dialogue where players feel heard and valued, and we, in turn, gain a deeper understanding of their desires and expectations. This dynamic interaction ensures that 3XO evolves in ways that truly reflect the community’s needs and preferences.
Moreover, gaming communities are incredible sources of creativity and innovation. Their ideas and suggestions often inspire new features, events, and content that we might not have considered otherwise. This ongoing exchange keeps the game fresh and exciting, fostering a sense of ownership and connection among players.
In essence, fan feedback isn't just important - it's the cornerstone of our development strategy, guiding us towards delivering an unforgettable gaming experience that continually exceeds expectations.
13. How do you elegantly handle player criticism and feedback?
We handle all constructive criticism by listening attentively and responding thoughtfully. We value feedback that helps us improve and ensure 3XO provides the best experience possible. When the feedback isn't constructive, we're not like most game dev studios that stick to canned, diplomatic responses. We respond like real people, sometimes with a bit of sass and a lot of honesty. It's important for us to be genuine and let our community see that there's a team of passionate developers behind the game, not just a faceless corporation.
14. What’s been the most grueling part about creating 3XO?
The most grueling part about creating 3XO has been dealing with the unexpected delays and technical challenges that crop up out of nowhere. From computer crashes to crucial hardware failures, and even personal setbacks like Cryptic Moon's health battles, these hurdles have tested our resilience and patience. It's a relentless grind, but each challenge overcome is a step closer to bringing our vision to life. Despite the grueling moments, the passion and dedication of our team keep us pushing forward, determined to create something truly special.
15. What’s the boldest risk you’ve taken during the development of 3XO, and did it pay off?
The boldest risk we've taken during the development of 3XO was delaying Alpha 1, despite the complaints from the community. It was a tough decision, but we knew that rushing to meet an arbitrary deadline would compromise the quality and experience we wanted to deliver. By taking this risk, we ensured that Alpha 1 would be polished and of high quality - something we can truly be proud of.
Although it's not live yet, the extra time has allowed us to refine every detail, fix bugs, and add exciting features. We believe that when players finally step into the cyberverse of 3XO, they'll appreciate the extra care and effort we put into making it exceptional. This decision, though bold and initially unpopular, will ultimately pay off by providing a superior gaming experience that our community will love.
16. What’s the most maddening challenge 3XO faces right now, and what’s your strategy to conquer it?
The most maddening challenge 3XO faces right now is the wave of 'age verification' bills and other legislation being passed in various states and countries. These laws are detrimental to the internet and the gaming industry, imposing unnecessary barriers, censorship, and potential privacy concerns for our players.
Our strategy to conquer this is to actively fight against such legislation. We'll be announcing a new project soon that's solely dedicated to fighting these bills. We will engage with advocacy groups, support legal challenges, and use our platform to raise awareness about the negative impacts of these "bad internet bills". By taking a stand, we aim to protect the freedom and integrity of our online community and the broader gaming landscape.
17. What do you think makes 3XO irresistibly unique compared to other games in the same genre?
3XO is far more than just a 'sex game' like all others in the genre. It stands out with a vast array of social features that go beyond the usual fare. Our focus is on creating a rich, interactive environment where players can socialize, build connections, and immerse themselves in a vibrant community.
What truly sets 3XO apart is our long-term vision. We have unprecedented plans for the game's future, aiming to innovate and expand in ways the gaming industry has never seen. From dynamic events and unique player-driven content to continuous updates that keep the experience fresh and engaging, 3XO is designed to be an ever-evolving social cyberverse.
18. What about 3XO has you absolutely thrilled?
The feature I'm looking forward to the most is the Chat Voyeur system. This innovative feature allows players to see the private, roleplaying 'purple text' of others engaging in intimate cybersex. It's a unique twist that adds a whole new layer of intrigue and excitement to the game, letting players experience the spice of others' interactions while maintaining the immersive social atmosphere of 3XO. The Chat Voyeur system embodies the bold and boundary-pushing spirit of our game, and I can't wait to see how our community embraces it.
19. How do you envision 3XO evolving in the long run after its initial release?
Our goal with 3XO is to make 'sex games' more mainstream and widely accepted by the general gaming community, as well as to bring non-gamers into the fold. We want to normalize adult content in gaming, breaking down stigmas and creating a space where mature themes are treated with the same respect and creativity as any other genre.
In the long run, we have ambitious plans like developing a 3XO-based reality show that will bring the vibrant, dynamic world of 3XO to a broader audience. This initiative aims to showcase the unique social interactions and drama within the game, helping to cement 3XO as a cultural phenomenon and the most successful MMO ever created.
Additionally, we are committed to continuously adding new features that enhance the social aspect of the game. From innovative communication tools to dynamic events and player-driven content, we envision 3XO evolving into an ever-expanding cyberverse where players can connect, create, and explore in ways they’ve never imagined. Our long-term vision is to make 3XO a thriving, evolving platform that keeps players engaged and excited for years to come.
20. What kind of lasting legacy do you hope 3XO will leave in the gaming world?
We hope that the success of 3XO will set a new benchmark for the industry, pushing other game development studios to adopt more pro-consumer practices. By prioritizing transparency, community engagement, and truly listening to player feedback, we aim to lead by example. Our vision is for 3XO to inspire a shift towards more ethical and player-centric approaches in the gaming world, where the enjoyment and satisfaction of the community take precedence over profit margins. Ultimately, we want 3XO to be remembered as a game that championed the interests of its players and raised the bar for what gamers can expect from their favorite studios.
Game Development
1. What exhilarating escapades were you on before you graced us with your presence at the studio?
Before I joined the sexy world of Black Lotus, I was living the thrilling life of a freelance web developer. My main gig involved crafting sleek websites, but my true passion was working on a virtual tabletop and database for Dungeons and Dragons.
2. When and how did you charm your way into the world of game development?
I was playing 3DXChat and was seriously unimpressed with the lack of updates and customization options, especially for male avatars. So, I decided enough was enough. Myself and a few friends, already programming wizards with a knack for learning new skills quickly, decided to teach ourselves game development. We set out to make our own damn game, with blackjack and hookers! And thus, the journey into the tantalizing world of game development began, leading to the creation of 3XO.
3. What’s the most attractive aspect of game design for you, and why does it get your pulse racing?
The most attractive aspect of game design for me is the same as with web development - that euphoric moment when everything finally 'clicks' and works flawlessly. It's an electrifying feeling of accomplishment and creativity coming together, making all the late nights and challenges worth it. There's nothing quite like seeing a concept come to life, smoothly running and ready to be experienced by players. It sends oh so much dopamine to my brain and puts a smile on my face every time!
4. What’s the most maddening challenge you face in game development?
The most maddening challenge I face in game development is things taking longer to finish than estimated. No matter how meticulously we plan, unexpected obstacles always pop up, turning a seemingly simple task into a prolonged saga. It's like herding cats through a maze - frustrating and unpredictable, but all part of the journey to create something amazing.
5. What’s the most irresistible skill a game developer should possess?
The most irresistible skill a game developer should possess is attention to detail. In game development, the devil truly is in the details - from the intricacies of gameplay mechanics to the nuances of UI/UX design. Being meticulous ensures a polished, immersive experience for players, turning a good game into a great one. It's that eye for detail that can make all the difference, captivating players and keeping them coming back for more.
6. What’s one jaw-dropping secret about game development that would make anyone do a double-take?
You don't have to spend a dime to learn game development. That's right - you should never go to college for game development. Not only will you end up learning outdated tools and methods, but every game dev skill you need can be learned entirely from free resources on the internet. From YouTube tutorials to online forums and free software, the world of game development is at your fingertips without the hefty price tag of formal education. It's a game-changer, literally!
7. Describe the game of your wildest dreams that would be the ultimate fantasy to create.
The game of my wildest dreams would be an MMORPG that seamlessly blends the best of sandbox and linear/theme park features. Imagine a world with the deep, immersive crafting system and vibrant economy of Star Wars Galaxies, combined with the endless quests and rich content of World of Warcraft. Players could enjoy a mix of developer-created and player-created content, ensuring endless adventures and creativity. It would have a robust and captivating end-game, keeping players engaged for years. This ultimate fantasy game would be a perfect blend of freedom, adventure, and community, creating a truly unforgettable experience.
8. Which game dev or studio has you utterly mesmerized and why?
Larian Studios has me completely mesmerized. Baldur's Gate 3 is hands down the greatest single-player game I've ever played - it's a masterpiece of storytelling, gameplay, and player choice. But what really sets Larian apart is their commitment to being an extremely pro-consumer company. They consistently prioritize their players, deliver quality content, and maintain transparent communication. It's refreshing and inspiring to see a studio that genuinely cares about its community and delivers such high-caliber games.
9. What’s your most triumphant moment that makes you puff up with pride?
My most triumphant moment was when our Kickstarter campaign for 3XO reached its goal within the first 10 minutes. We were blown away by the overwhelming demand and support from the community. It was a jaw-dropping, pride-inducing moment that validated all our hard work and showed us just how eager people were for a game like 3XO. Knowing that our vision resonated so strongly with others filled us with immense pride and excitement for the future.
10. How do you keep your cool when dealing with stress, deadlines, delays, and player criticism?
When the stress levels rise and deadlines loom, I have a simple yet effective remedy - a well-crafted cocktail. A little bit of liquid courage helps take the edge off and keeps the creativity flowing. Plus, there's nothing like unwinding with a drink after a long day of coding and player feedback. Cheers to staying sexy under pressure!
11. How do you masterfully balance work and play, especially during those heated crunch times?
Uh... I don't. During those intense crunch times, my mantra is "Work hard, then work harder." Balancing work and play kind of goes out the window when deadlines are looming. It's all about pushing through, giving it everything I've got, and knowing that the reward will be worth the grind. Once the crunch is over, then I can kick back and truly enjoy some well-deserved playtime.
12. What makes all your hard work feel like a sweet reward?
What makes all the hard work feel like a sweet reward is seeing the game we've envisioned finally come together. It's those moments when a new feature works perfectly, or when a piece of code seamlessly integrates. And of course, the excitement of knowing that soon, players will get to dive into the cyberverse we've created. Each milestone we hit, like our Kickstarter success or our Alpha 1 build being finished, fuels our passion and reminds us why we pour our hearts into this project.
13. What recent gaming trends or technologies have you absolutely enchanted?
I'm absolutely enchanted by the rise of VR and AR technologies. They are transforming the gaming experience, making it more immersive and interactive than ever before. Another trend that's caught my eye is the growing emphasis on player-driven content and customization, allowing gamers to create and shape their own experiences. These advancements are pushing the boundaries of what's possible in gaming, and I can't wait to see how they continue to evolve and inspire our work on 3XO.
14. Do you have a programming language that you’re head over heels for?
Python, even though I never get to use it for game development. I just love how simple, clean, and human-readable it is. I wish all programming languages were as clean as Python.
15. What’s your favorite tool or software that you can’t help but flirt with every day?
Notion. I use it all day, every day as a project manager. It's my go-to tool for organizing tasks, tracking progress, and keeping everything running smoothly. It turns the chaos of game development into an organized, manageable process. It's like my digital right hand, and I couldn't imagine my workflow without it.
16. What personal quality have you polished to perfection that’s been crucial to your game dev career?
Attention to detail. In game development, the little things often make the biggest difference. Whether it's ensuring seamless gameplay mechanics, creating immersive environments, or perfecting character animations, my meticulous nature ensures everything is up to par. This focus on detail helps in delivering a polished, high-quality experience that players will love.
17. If you could wave a magic wand and transform one thing about the game dev industry, what would it be?
I'd transform the way some players interact with game developers. There's a lot of passion in the gaming community, but sometimes it crosses the line into demanding and rude behavior. A little more understanding and respect would go a long way in creating a more positive and collaborative environment for everyone involved. Constructive feedback is invaluable, but there's no need to be a dick about it.
18. How do you foresee the electrifying evolution of gaming over the next five years?
The next five years in gaming are going to be a wild ride. I predict VR and AR tech will become so immersive, you'll forget what reality looks like. Cloud gaming is going to make high-end gaming accessible to everyone, no expensive hardware required. AI advancements will bring NPCs that are almost too smart for their own good, and procedurally generated content will keep every playthrough as fresh as a daisy.
But the real kicker? Player-driven content and social features will explode, making games more customizable and interactive than ever. We'll be flirting and socializing in virtual worlds like never before. It's going to be an exciting, boundary-pushing evolution, and I can't wait to see it all unfold.
19. What alluring pitfalls or mistakes should one avoid in the world of game development?
Rushing. It's tempting to push things out quickly, but rushing can lead to a game that's buggy, unpolished, and ultimately disappointing. It’s like trying to bake a cake at double the temperature to save time - it just ends up burnt and inedible. Taking the time to thoroughly test, polish, and perfect each aspect of the game is crucial. So, slow down, enjoy the process, and make sure what you deliver is as deliciously satisfying as it can be.
20. What’s the best piece of advice you’d give to someone dreaming of a career in game development?
Don't listen to people who tell you something is "too hard" or that you can't do it without a massive budget and a big team. Just do it. If it's an idea you're excited about, that passion will show in your work. Creating something smaller or easier just because it's easier won't ignite the same fire in you. Passion is the secret ingredient that turns a good game into a great one. So, chase your dreams, dive in headfirst, and let your enthusiasm light the way.
Personal Details

Baldur's Gate 3 for singleplayer, hands down. The storytelling, the characters, the sheer depth of the game - it's like falling in love with every playthrough. And for MMOs, it's Star Wars Galaxies.
